El Granada
The coastal community of El Granada has large hillside homes with stunning views, single family homes, and even apartment living with ocean views. The town of approximately 5,500 people offers beautiful eucalyptus groves, a community park, and surfing spots. It sits just across Highway 1 from Pillar Point Harbor, offering plenty of choices for fun and dining.
History of El Granada
This quaint community was originally comissioned by the Ocean Shore Railroad as the “Jewel of the Coast,” a grandiose resort to rival Atlantic City, New Jersey. The town was designed by architect Daniel Burnham to have semicircular streets embellished with elaborate flower and tree plantings, but the failure of the railroad in the 1920′s cut short its planned development. The second half of the century has seen construction of some stunning hillside gems, as well as admirable restoration of authentic late 19th century weekend cottages.
The Pillar Point Harbor is home to numerous places to eat, shop and explore! The harbor offers many events and activities for the whole family.
